West Elm launches collaborative cookery workshops with the Ninth’s Jun Tanaka

Homeware design store West Elm has teamed up with Fitzrovia restaurant The Ninth to offer aspiring foodies the chance to cook with celebrated chef Jun Tanaka through a series of masterclasses, where they will learn elegantly simple recipes that are quick to prepare.

Hosted at the Tottenham Court Road branch of West Elm in May, June and July, masterclass attendees will work with Jun creating some of his favourite home recipes, including sea bass carpaccio with salsa verde, showcasing the best seasonal produce found on Britain’s doorstep and using West Elm’s array of unique kitchenware.

After an introduction to the ingredients and equipment involved, Jun will guide guests through his recipes, step-by-step. Once prepared, guests will be invited to tuck in and enjoy their handmade dishes in West Elm’s’Market’.

The hour-long classes start at 10.30am and all attendees will be provided with the ingredients, an apron and the West Elm utensils and crockery involved. They will also receive a signed copy of Jun’s 5-star rated Simple to Sensational cookbook worth £15, to take home.

With over 20 years of experience working in London’s top and a regular face on cookery-based television shows in both the UK and US, Jun recently opened his first solo destination dining spot, The Ninth. This new venture offers relaxed neighbourhood dining at its finest, where simple yet refined French-Mediterranean sharing plates are married with casual, friendly service and an approachable wine list.

Tickets cost £50 per person and can be booked via The Ninth’s website from Monday 11th April 2016.
