Burger fans are set to flock to The Botanist of Broadgate Circle this Saturday for the fifth annual #SliderDecider, London’s biggest tiny burger festival.
This year, sixteen of the UK’s most creative chefs, including Ember Yard’s Brett Barnes and Smoke & Salt’s Remi Williams, will be showcasing their slider skills and competing to take home the coveted title of Slider Decider Champion 2017.
Tickets to the event cost £15 and include five £3 tokens to be exchanged for any sliders that tickle your pickle (and, if your appetite for wee burgers is truly insatiable, there are additional voucher books available to purchase on the day).
The finalists’ 16 sliders include everything from the hyper-luxurious (aged Wagyu beef patty with smoked crispy pig’s cheek, mushroom caramel, Gruyère, truffle mayo and lovage & cucumber relish in crystal malt brioche bun) to the unconventional (wild confit rabbit patty with quail’s egg, pickled beetroot, lettuce, rocket, tomato, cheddar cheese and homemade kiwi mayo, in a sourdough bun).
There’s even a ‘Peruvian Vurger’ from Senor Ceviche’s Mark Morrans, made with a shittake, miso and quinoa patty, dairy-free American-style cheese, eggless ‘Big Mac’ mayo, Peruvian pickles and aji amarillo relish.
The bun-fight, compered by BBC Radio’s London Food & Drink presenter Nigel Barden, kicks off at midday and finishes at 6:30pm, but the party continues late into the night with live music and cocktails from The Botanist’s alfresco Bulleit pop-up bar.
Tickets can be purchased in advance from www.sliderdecider.co.uk.
