Slow Food UK Week June 18 – 24 2012

There’s a very strong schedule of food events for this year’s Slow Food UK Week, with top chefs, including Richard Corrigan, Angela Hartnett, Giorgio Locatelli, Francesco Mazzei and Cyrus Todiwala making sure that there’s an event to attend each day of the week.

You don’t have to be a Slow Food UK member in order to enjoy the packed schedule which has been created with many of the 53 Slow Food UK Chef Alliance members.

There will be special Slow Food UK Forgotten Foods-inspired menus and cookery classes with tastings of Highland Park whisky (supporters of the Slow Food UK Chef Alliance) being served at restaurants and cookery schools in England, Scotland and Wales. As well as major events in London, north of the border a number of Scotland’s top class chefs including Neil Forbes (Café St Honore) and Carina Contini (Centotre/The Scottish Café) will provide food for thought and enjoyment.

There’s even a trio of Slow Food UK gelato, created by Gelupo Artisan Gelato in Soho, and available during the Slow Food UK Week only, one of which features Highland Park whisky.

‘Slow Food UK Week celebrates the many wonders of good British food. This year we will focus on our newest initiative, the Chef Alliance in partnership with Highland Park, in which leading British chefs share their enthusiasm for local, sustainable ingredients. Our Chefs will champion Forgotten Foods with special Slow Food menus, share their insights in vibrant talks, and open their doors for the first ever Slow Food Crawl.” says Cat Gazzoli, CEO of Slow Food UK.

‘Come and celebrate with us and see how the philosophy of Slow Food embraces and empowers both food lovers and producers.”

Peter Sandstrom, Marketing Director for Highland Park commented: ‘Our partnership with Slow Food UK has gone from strength to strength with more than 50 chefs now members of the Slow Food UK Chef Alliance. What better way to celebrate Slow Food UK Week than by joining forces with some of the UK’s top chefs to showcase first class local produce that is very much in line with Highland Park’s own values of promoting a passion for flavour and craftsmanship.”
