Tamila, the latest fast, casual concept by The Tamil Prince will open its doors on Clapham’s Northcote Road on 1st October.

Breaking away from the “Indian pubs” that the owners have become known for, Tamila is a new standalone concept with a casual edge. From a food hall beginning at Hackney Bridge in Hackney Wick it’s now a fully-fledged restaurant in the heart of Clapham and the concept’s first bricks-and-mortar site as well as their first foray into South London.

The menu from co-founder and executive chef Prince Durairaj’s South features dishes from Tamil Nadu and across the subcontinent. Whilst roti and curries will be a central component of the menu, guests can expect new additions and regular specials cooked in the tandoor for authentic Indian flavours.

The team will also be expanding its bread offering, with the likes of Garlic coriander naan, Kulcha naan, and Peshwari sitting alongside the flaky roti they’ve become known for. Other highlights include a dedicated dosa section (Chilli cheese, Mutton uttapam and Masala dosa); a large snack selection featuring Chicken lollipops, Fried baby sweetcorn and Gobi 65; as well as Masala Poori (wheat flour puffed fried bread served with coconut chutney and potato masala).

Tamila will also serve a curated drinks offering, featuring Indian-spiced cocktails such as Gunpowder Margarita, Tamil Negroni and Charcoal Old Fashioned, alongside the house Tamila lager and a concise selection of draught wine.

Tamila will be open 7 days a week from 1 October 2024. Bookings can be made via the link here, with limited space for walk-ins.
