As part of charity Action against Hunger’s ongoing campaign to end child hunger, this year’s Auction Against Hunger event will be held on Thursday 22nd May 2014 at Street Feast’s Dalston Yard.
The evening will be hosted by Gizzi Erskine and features top chefs including Nuno Mendes (Chiltern Firehouse), Pascal Aussignac (Club Gascon), Francesco Mazzei (L’Anima), Neil Rankin (Smokehouse), Anna Hansen (The Modern Pantry) José Pizarro (José, Pizarro), Sat Bains (Restaurant Sat Bains), Naved Nasir (Dishoom), Ben Tish (Salt Yard) and Paul A. Young (master chocolatier). These top chefs will be joined by Street Feast favourites Yum Bun, Breddos Tacos, Pizza Pilgrims, Meringue Girls and 1235 Doughnuts.
The auction is the brainchild of Ben Maschler – son of Evening Standard restaurant critic Fay Maschler and co-owner of Islington’s Draper’s Arms – and Jonathan Downey of Street Feast, who are co-hosting the event with Action against Hunger.
Guests will be welcomed to Dalston Yard, home of Street Feast, from 6.30pm where they will be able to sample the food from stalls headed up by the top chefs and enjoy complimentary drinks courtesy of Champagne Taittinger, Sipsmith and Jose Cuervo among others.
One of the key highlights of the evening will be the’Money-Can’t-Buy’ live and silent auctions, where lots include: the chance to review a restaurant with Evening Standard critic Fay Maschler; having dinner cooked for you by The River Café’s head chef; and’The Fat Duck Experience’.
As well as the auctions, the evening will involve an exclusive raffle, live music and entertainment.
