Save the date for this free event – Friday 29th Sept – Sunday 1st October
This October sees the arrival of the first ever Spanish Olive Festival in the UK and it’s free to attend.
Visitors to the Canopy Market at Kings Cross will be transported to the olive groves of Spain with celebrity chef demonstrations, a famous nutritionist, olive tastings, an interactive marinating & filling station, an olive art installation and of course Spanish music.
Critically acclaimed chef José Pizarro will be there on the Friday to hold cooking demonstrations and talk about his love of olives. Then on the Saturday & Sunday there will be a variety of Spanish chefs, including Salt Yards Ben Tish and Omar Allibhoy, as well as nutrition consultant, writer & broadcaster Fiona Hunter, who will be showing visitors all the health benefits of eating Spanish olives.
Guests can get their fill at The Olive Station trying their hand at stuffing and marinating Spanish olives to take home. And if the thought of a pickled almond, caper or pimento pairing sounds daunting, there’ll be experts on hand to help you make the right choice.
The Olive Tasting Station is where you’ll be able to try a range of Spanish olives, from the Manzanillas, to Gordals, and Hojiblancas. Experts on hand will be able to answer questions and recommend dishes and pairings, so you can try using them at home.
An olive art installation will take centre stage, built entirely out of olives. Recipe cards with recipes from our celebrity chefs and nutritionist will be handed out throughout the festival, there’ll be traditional Spanish music and the Canopy Market itself is always worth a visit.
