Portobello Road Gin’s four floor The Distillery is launching a brand new sister venue on Exmouth Market.

Tonica By The Distillery is a new bar, kitchen and Still Room  due to open mid-April 2018 inspired by The Distillery’s first floor Spanish restaurant, GinTonica.

Set out over two floors, Tonica By The Distillery is a 100 cover restaurant and bar on the ground floor with a working Still Room and private event space in the basement. There will also be additional outside seating allowing customers to soak up the buzz of Exmouth Market.

Tonica’s drinks offering will retain that same DNA as The Distillery, serving a menu of cocktails, wines and house-made spirits. The menu has been curated by renowned bartender and Portobello Road Gin’s master distiller, Jake F Burger.

A highlight of the drink menu is Tonica’s Gin and Tonic Plus. Blurring the lines between the traditional G&T and the cocktail, the’Gin + Tonic Plus’ is an experimental new serve that uses fanciful garnishes, interesting tonics, bitters, tinctures, fresh herbs, juices, jams and even liqueurs, to take the classic’spirit and mixer’ to dizzyingly delicious new heights.

Tonica’s food offering of tapas and small plates is guided by seasonality, the menu features British produce married with imported Spanish delicacies. The menu has been created by Executive Chef, Greg Lewis and diners can expect his unique take on classic Spanish dishes.

In the basement is a working Still Room and home to Copernicus the Second a 30l alembic copper still that was used to distill the very first bottle of Portobello Road Gin. The still will now be used to support the production of The Distillery’s artisan, house-made spirits which include an avocado vodka, butter gin and horseradish and rosemary vodka. Each distillation will be available at Tonica.
