London is set to swing once again with Salvatore Calabrese’s new sixties-inspired cocktail menu at The Donovan Bar , Our Generation.
Our Generation evokes the 1960s and early 1970s’ sense of freedom and both the cocktail menu and the interiors of The Donovan Bar pay homage to the most glamorous faces of its fashion, music and art scene, as photographed by Terence Donovan.
Having begun his career at the height of this hedonistic era, Salvatore Calabrese’s Our Generation cocktail menu commemorates the spirit of the era.
Inspired by Donovan’s work and the famous faces he photographed along the way, Our Generation celebrates Salvatore’s own memories and this special time in London’s history
Our Generation encompasses drinks from the Portrait, Fashion, Music and Screen of the’60’s and’70’s.
Each theme includes five cocktail creations designed by world-famous Calabrese, each evoking iconic, Dolce Vita-like personalities.
These stylish, quaffable tipples will include:
The Twiggy, Fashion £20
Mirroring the model and muse, this is flirty and fun purple tipple. Made by shaking Grey Goose Vanilla Vodka, Passion Fruit Syrup, Egg White, Lemon Juice, Butterfly Pea Tea, it is then topped up with champagne.
Black Trinity, Portrait £19
In tribute to a trio who punctuated the decade with iconic photography (Terence Donovan, David Bailey and Brian Duffy) makes an artful, monochromatic impression with Hennessy, Martini Rubino, Port, Disaronno and Cantaloupe Melon Foam.
Starman, Music £20
London legend David Bowie’s career blossomed during the 1960s, and this namesake cocktail comes with its own celestial touch of magic in the form of kikuna leaves and 12 year old Dalmore Whisky.
Madam Loren, Screen £19
Sophia Loren was a glamorous Sixties bombshell, and this rosy-hued cocktail, made with a dash of tomato liqueur and crowned with fried basil, is a tribute to her Italian origins.
