This Jubilee, Truman’s Social Club‘s Event Space will be transformed into the world famous The Mall, lined with real trees and draped in Union Jack flags with a giant projection of Buckingham Palace, replete with thrones for photo opportunities, setting the stage for 4 incredible and unique days.

As well as hosting traditional events across the weekend including a Big Lunch for the community and fancy-dress themed party, there will also be Massaoke’s ’Time Machine’ live show and all-day Caribbean Carnival for weekend revellers in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Thursday

Kicking off the commemorative bank holiday weekend, Truman’s will be welcoming visitors to the social hub with a classic village fete between 12pm – 4pm throughout the whole building. Brimming with family favourites ranging from hook the duck to a traditional coconut shy, as well as some unexpected surprises.

In the evening, Truman’s Event Space is taken over by Massaoke’s ’Time Machine’ live experience. The UK’s original live mass karaoke band of spandex-clad rockstars will embark on a journey through time where they will work through the Queen’s decades from the 50s right through to the 2020s. Expect an epic all-singing, all dancing adventure through music history with mega video lyrics to help you sing your heart out, packed with the top sing-along anthems of all time. Tickets for the show can be found here.

Friday

A vibrant all-day Caribbean Carnival on Friday will be bringing the summer vibes infused with live music from a steelpan band as well as a Carnival procession band. The afternoon is packed with kids entertainment including face painting and a craft stand for energetic children to create their own carnival outfit in preparation for a procession down the red carpet lined with trees in Truman’s recreation of The Mall.

The event will have authentic Caribbean food on offer from local neighbours and friends, Caribbean Eatery, showcasing Caribbean cuisine along with rum cocktails throughout the day. The Blackhorse Lane venue will be keeping the party going right into the evening with a massive reggae sound system presenting an amazing roster of DJs and MCs supplying tunes until late.

Saturday

Saturday will be fancy-dress themed, with two separate events in the afternoon and evening. Both events will have the theme of ‘British Cultural Icons of the Last 70 Years’ and will see revellers dressed as The Beatles through to the Full English Breakfast. Guests can enter themselves into a competition to win mega prizes for the best-dressed, all judged by celebrity presenters.

A family disco from 2pm – 5pm in Truman’s Event Space will feature a guest presenter and performance. The evening party is one for the adults, with the same fancy dress shenanigans providing the backdrop to an epic party on The Mall with a performance from the world famous Jaguar Skills. Throughout his 20 year career the DJ has been featured across national radio including a weekly mix on the BBC Radio 2 Trevor Nelson Show. He will be playing a special set at Truman’s to tie into the theme of British Cultural Icons of the last 70 years. While the parties take over the Event Space, the rest of the building will be open as normal to the public, with DJs and food and drink offers throughout the day.

Sunday

To round off the Jubilee weekend, the social hub invites guests to book a table and celebrate as a community at the free Big Lunch event. In true community spirt, Truman’s will be offering picnic bookings or the option of BYOF (bring your own food), bringing people together over the course of the afternoon. Accompanying the Big Lunch will be a baking competition judged by Great British Bake Off contestant, Dan Beasley-Harling who will decide the blue-ribbon baker at the Blackhorse Lane venue, with the winner seeing their pudding on the Truman’s Social Club menu.
