On 20th June, Bandra Bhai, the cocktail bar downstairs from Indian restaurant Pahli Hill, will be hosting a special tasting dinner in partnership with one of the world’s leading single malt whiskies, The Macallan.
Taking diners away from the ubiquitous bottle of Cobra, the evening event will be an opportunity f to enjoy a five course menu featuring dishes created by head chef Avi Shashidhara each paired with special The Macallan whisky cocktails designed by Bar Manager Martin Zemanovic (previously at Oblix, The Shard).
It’s located below Pahli Hill restaurant which offers regional Indian plates, brought straight from the home kitchens of Mumbai. The menu upstairs combines chef Avi Shashidhara’s classical training and inspiration from his upbringing in Bangalore, for dishes that are warming and packed full of flavour with surprising details.
In March 2023, Avi appeared on BBC2’s Great British Menu becoming a finalist and winning the starter course at the final banquet.
The menu will include:
PAPADI CHAT (Yoghurt, Datterini tomatoes, pomegranate, Delicia pumpkin, mint & tamarind chutney) paired with GINGER (The Macallan Double Cask 12 Years Old, ginger, fennel)
TANDOORI CORNISH MONKFISH (Mango pickle marinade, new season’s British corn & Agretti) paired with SWEET CORN (The Macallan Double Cask 12 Years Old, vermouth, sweet corn)
CORNISH LAMB BIRYANI (Bombay onion & cucumber raita, banana chilli & baby aubergine Salan) paired with SAFFRON 2.0 (The Macallan Double Cask 18 Years Old, aperitivo, saffron)
