T’is the season to BBQ, at least while the sun’s out. Elevate your burgers with this new sauce
Of course it needn’t be burgers, as this latest addition to the Tracklements artisan, planet-friendly range of condiments will work for vegan, pescatarian or meat eaters.
Made in collaboration with chef and food writer Mark Hix.Mark Hix, it’s made with lemon juice, mustard, turmeric, black pepper, allspice and chillies and of course tomato puree. It’s gluten free and vegan friendly.
We found it a kind of souped up tomato ketchup, a bit low on chilli heat but otherwise worth slapping on your BBQ’d food, be it a classic burger, a chicken leg or a nice bit of squeaky halloumi.
And rather naughtily we put it on our bacon and eggs on Sunday morning. It worked well.
One caveat, it really does not want to come out of the bottle, just like Heinz in the old days.
Tracklements Special Edition Zingy Burger Sauce RRP £4.10 for 290g, is available from fine food delis and farm shops nationwide and online at www.tracklements.co.uk.
