Visitors with a sweet tooth to Palm Court at the Langham this festive season will be treated to a sugary spectacle in the form of a giant gingerbread house. The house will be on display at the entrance to Palm Courtall through December alongside the Festive Afternoon Tea priced at £42 per person which includes Roast Norfolk turkey breast with violet mustard sandwiches, festive eggnog cream, your very own mini gingerbread house and of course homemade mince pies.

The hotel’s Executive Pastry Chef, Cherish Finden, who recently featured in the BBC’s ‘Junior Bake Off’ series as well as appearing as a judge on ‘MasterChef’, created the giant gingerbread house which took more than 200 man hours to complete.

To celebrate the festive season, The Langham, London is offering a complimentary Afternoon Tea for two in Palm Court for the person who can guess the weight of gingerbread (to the nearest kg) used in the construction of their gingerbread house. Entries can be made by visiting the The Langham, London’s facebook page. The winner will be selected on Friday 23rd December 2011.

At the heart of The Langham, the historic Palm Court began serving Afternoon Tea to the cream (sic) of Victorian society who gathered to enjoy sandwiches, delicate pastries and cakes and a variety of teas .
